PPSC Volunteer of the Year Awards
Each July, Platteville Power Soccer Club participates in the Platteville Regional Chamber's Annual Hometown Week Party in the Park "Salute to Volunteers". Local nonprofit and service organizations are invited to nominate one Volunteer of the Year from their organization to be recognized at the event. Below is a list of our outstanding Volunteer of the Year honorees.
2025 - Mandy Hall
Mandy has been an essential member of our club's leadership since 2018. For the past seven years, she has served as our youth soccer club's registrar, leading us through three major transitions from paper registrations; to our first online platform for team and player registrations; and most recently to a second online platform that provides a more dynamic experience for registrations, club communication and administration.
In addition to those responsibilities, Mandy also served for four years as the team manager for our U18 Girls team.
There are not enough complimentary words to describe Mandy: professional, pleasant, efficient, helpful, insightful, reliable, conscientious, detail oriented, collaborative, consistent, dedicated, humorous, and a great communicator. She is an all around top-notch individual who everyone enjoys working with!
We are so extremely thankful for her service and so incredibly fortunate to have her on our Power Soccer Club leadership team. Without a doubt, Mandy makes us a better organization!
2024 - Nathan Curry
As a youth, Nathan was one of the first players in our newly formed club. As an adult, he is sharing his joy and knowledge of the sport with the next generation.
Nathan has coached all three of his daughters and is well respected by players, parents and fellow coaches. Most importantly, he has been a key reason why our club has been able to grow the numbers of female participants.
In addition to coaching, Nathan has served on our Board of Directors. A few years ago, he also stepped outside his comfort zone to develop and launch a new website for the club.
Nathan is a top-notch volunteer and we are grateful for his contributions and service to the Platteville Power Soccer Club!
2023 - James Hammill
James has been a dedicated volunteer with PPSC since 2013. He has coached his 3 daughters throughout the years and served as our equipment coordinator from 2015-2023.
On top of those duties, he has occasionally filled in as team manager, lined fields when needed and sometimes in a last minute emergency, stored our equipment for several years in his garage before being a driving force leading us to rent a storage unit last year, offering rides to away games for multiple players, picking up and clearing fields of branches and debris, as well as contributing in many other ways.
While James is a competitor and expects much from his players, he is supportive and inclusive toward all players. One can expect honesty from him, and can also expect that he will contribute to the good of the whole. James will be the first to lend a helping hand.
In fact, yesterday, before I just informed him today of this recognition, he emailed that if we can't find an assistant coach for the U14 girls team he would fill that role, and bring in his older daughter to help coach, too. This was a perfect example of why we choose to recognize James as our volunteer of the year!!
